To visit Anakeesta, you first take a chondola or chair lift from the town of Gatlinburg, up the mountain to enter the park. With lots of photo opportunities, places to dine and shop, you will also find a unique blend of fun and adventure while being amongst nature. Treetop skywalk, dueling ziplines, and mountain coaster, oh my!
The Smoky Mountains are filled with majestic views, flowing waterfalls, and diverse wildlife. If you are not interested in hiking, there are some beautiful drives in the surrounding area such as Cades Cove, Foothills Parkway, Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook, and Roaring Fork Motor Trail.
A few of Lexy's favorite places within the park are Cades Cove, Laurel Falls, Clingman's Dome, Mingo Falls, Grotto Falls, Newfound Gap, and Abrams Falls.
You will start at the base of the mountain where you will take a sky lift to the landing area at the top of the mountain that meets their observation deck and gift store. Beyond this area, you have the sky bridge which has gained rapid popularity as it features glass in middle.
Mini golf is fun for everyone, and this course is special as it is the most unique course we have ever seen, and it is nestled in the mountain. Hillbilly golf has proven resilient after operating many years and still reopening after being partially burnt in 2016 by a wildfire that threatened the town. To begin your journey, you will check in with their staff at the base then board the incline rail that takes you up the mountain to start the course.
The Old Mill is a staple in the area but also is so much more than a restaurant. The old mill area features a restaurant, cafe, and creamery. Guests may also find shopping opportunities and a distillery. This quaint area is not to be missed during a smoky mountain visit!
Dinner shows are a fun way to enjoy a dinner in a unique atmosphere as each show is different. We recommend the Hatfield's and McCoy's Dinner Show, Dolly Parton's Stampede, Pirate's Voyage Dinner Show, and Paula Dean's Lumberjack Feud.
The Island is at the center of Pigeon Forge and offers multiple ways to enjoy your stay including, shopping, dining, rides, games, and overnight stays at the Margaritaville Island Hotel and Inn.
Lexy's favorites at the Island include, Ole Smokey Moonshine, Paula Deans Family Kitchen, and The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel.
We will be more than happy to give recommendations for other activities and restaurants in the area. :)
